What is integrative oncology?

A cancer journey involves more than a diagnosis and a treatment plan. It involves your energy, your body's resilience, your emotional wellbeing, and your quality of life at every stage of the process. Our integrative oncology program is designed to support you throughout your cancer journey by combining evidence-based functional and integrative medicine with a whole-body approach to healing that supports your treatment, recovery, and long-term health.

For many patients, integrative oncology works alongside conventional oncology treatments to help support quality of life, reduce treatment side effects, strengthen the immune system, and address nutritional and metabolic health throughout treatment and recovery. Others may seek a fully holistic, wellness-centered path focused on supporting the body as fully as possible through integrative therapies and personalized care.

The Society for Integrative Oncology (SIO), in partnership with the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), has published rigorous, peer-reviewed clinical guidelines confirming the evidence-based role of integrative therapies in modern cancer care covering pain management, anxiety, fatigue, and more. At R+R, we take our cue from this evidence.

Our approach to integrative oncology at R+R

Our approach centers on personalized, science-based care rooted in one belief: every patient deserves a plan built specifically for them. No two cancer journeys are the same, which is why we take time to fully understand each patient’s story, diagnosis, goals, lifestyle, and needs before building a care plan.

Treatment plans may incorporate targeted supplementation, nutritional and metabolic support, lifestyle guidance, and wellness therapies such as IV therapy, hyperbaric oxygen, infrared sauna, red light therapy, and more, each selected to support the body in the way that best serves the individual patient. Whether used alongside conventional oncology care or as part of a broader integrative approach, every recommendation is made with the goal of supporting strength, resilience, and overall well-being throughout the healing process.

Please note: While our providers are licensed physicians and experts in functional medicine, they are not oncologists. We work closely with your oncology team to ensure all care is coordinated, safe, and supportive of your prescribed treatment plan.

what to expect

What integrative oncology at R+R looks like

Whole person care

Every patient is treated as a unique, whole person, addressing the cancer's biology alongside the terrain in which it grows: metabolic health, nutritional status, immune function, inflammation, stress, sleep, and the emotional dimensions of living with a cancer diagnosis.

Precision testing

R+R is an RGCC Certified Practice. When appropriate, RGCC liquid biopsy testing identifies what is actually driving your cancer's growth and which therapies (conventional and integrative) your specific cancer cells respond to. Learn more about the RGCC testing process below.

Personalized protocols

No two plans look the same. Your protocol may include targeted supplementation based on RGCC findings, R+R wellness therapies, IV nutrient therapy, nutrition and exercise recommendations, and prescription management.

Integrated therapies

Because integrative oncology at R+R is embedded within our wellness center, your provider can prescribe therapies like IV therapy, ozone, hyperbaric oxygen, infrared sauna, red light therapy, thermography and more as clinical components of your care protocol. Our Integrative Oncology Members receive 30% off all therapies.

Coordination with your oncology team

Everything we do is designed to work alongside your oncologist and/or any other specialists involved in your care. We communicate with your oncology team, share relevant test results, and ensure all integrative protocols are safe and appropriate given your specific treatment plan. If you do not yet have an oncology team, we will help you find one.

Support at every stage

This care is not limited to active treatment. We support patients who are in treatment, recovering, in remission, pursuing recurrence prevention, or approaching cancer care proactively, including those who want to assess cancer risk before a diagnosis is made.

the rgcc process

From testing to treatment

Because of our RGCC certification, we can offer cutting-edge, personalized therapies developed through RGCC laboratories. These therapies are designed to help the body repair and regulate itself at a cellular level. Among these is Q-REstrain, a sophisticated, autologous, non-manipulated therapy that targets the specific genetic sequences driving cancer, viral infections, or Lyme disease, and inhibits their expression.

1. Consultation

The patient meets with one of our functional medicine providers, who evaluates their case and determines if Q-REstrain is appropriate. To schedule a consultation, please contact us.

2. Pre-Testing

Required diagnostic tests are completed (e.g., Oncotrace for cancer or serum labs for viruses/Lyme).

3. Blood Collection

A blood sample is collected to develop the personalized therapy. Patients can conveniently have their sample drawn at our onsite Quest Lab in Fort Worth or visit another authorized lab location, whichever is most convenient.

4. Therapy Production

RGCC laboratory scientists create the customized Q-REstrain therapy in approximately 4-6 weeks.

5. Treatment

The patient receives their personalized therapy under the supervision of their provider at Restore + Revive, where our RGCC-certified team ensures safe administration and individualized care throughout the process.

common questions

Integrative Oncology FAQs

General
What's the difference between integrative and alternative oncology?

Alternative medicine implies replacing conventional cancer treatment with something else. Integrative oncology does the opposite. It works alongside your existing treatment to support quality of life, reduce side effects, and strengthen the body. The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the Society for Integrative Oncology (SIO) have jointly published rigorous clinical guidelines confirming the evidence-based role of integrative therapies in modern cancer care.

Why is this called integrative oncology rather than functional oncology or functional medicine?

At Restore + Revive, we practice functional medicine, focusing on uncovering root causes and creating personalized plans for each patient. However, when it comes to a diagnosis like cancer, an integrative approach is often necessary. Integrative oncology combines the best of functional and evidence-based therapies with conventional Western medicine, ensuring that care is both safe and effective. Many of our clients specifically want this combination, so their treatment plan supports the whole person, body, mind, and spirit, all while coordinating closely with their oncology team.

Can this replace my oncologist?

No. We recommend continuing care with your oncology team. Our providers coordinate closely with oncologists to ensure all integrative protocols are safe and appropriate. If you do not yet have an oncology team, we will help you find one.

Do I have to be in active treatment to work with you?

No! We support patients at every stage: in active treatment, recovering, in remission, pursuing recurrence prevention, or approaching cancer care proactively. RGCC testing can identify circulating tumor cells before symptoms appear, making it a useful tool for high-risk patients.

What's the difference between the consultation and membership?

The consultation is a comprehensive 90-minute evaluation with personalized recommendations you can take forward, including RGCC testing options. It's ideal for patients who want to understand their options without committing. We highly recommend our membership for those actively fighting cancer, which adds unlimited appointments, 24/7 direct provider access, full protocol development and monitoring, and 30% off all R+R therapies. It is our most comprehensive membership and designed for ongoing, proactive support throughout your cancer journey.

What should I expect during my first appointment?

Your first visit is a comprehensive 90-minute consultation. During this session, your provider will:

  • Review your complete health history and any current treatments/medications
  • Analyze blood work and any relevant lab results
  • Discuss your goals and concerns
  • Prepare a fully customized plan of care, which may include therapies, supplements, and lifestyle recommendations tailored specifically to your needs
  • Your recommended therapy plan/checklist will be shared with our membership liaison who will support coordination of services to ensure everything is scheduled accordingly

This initial visit lays the foundation for your personalized, integrative care plan and ensures that your journey is fully supported from the start.

What does a typical protocol look like?

While every plan is fully customized to the patient’s unique needs and health history, an example list of services prescribed might include:

  • IV therapy once a week
  • Vitamin shot once a week
  • Ozone therapy once a week
  • Revive Room + red light sessions once a week
  • A personalized supplement plan
  • One-time Zyto scans to guide care

No two plans are exactly alike. Your protocol is built around your individual journey, priorities, and response to therapy, ensuring your care feels personal, targeted, and effective.

What types of therapies are offered at R+R?

View our full list of therapies here. Each R+R location may have other services and providers who operate out of that particular location. You can learn more in our Partner Directory.

Can providers prescribe medications?

Yes! Our integrative oncology providers can prescribe medications as part of a personalized plan. All prescriptions are coordinated with your oncology team to ensure nothing conflicts with your existing treatment.

RGCC TESTING
What is RGCC testing?

RGCC uses a standard blood draw to isolate your circulating tumor cells and test them against a panel of conventional and natural therapies, measuring what your specific cancer cells actually respond to. Results return in 7–10 business days. Explore RGCC testing and available panels ↗

Will I definitely receive RGCC testing?

Not necessarily. RGCC testing is recommended when clinically appropriate. Your provider will discuss whether it makes sense for your situation during your initial consultation.

MEMBERSHIP
How often will I see my provider?

As often as you and your provider deem necessary. Members have full access to their provider via phone, text, or in-person appointments, allowing care to be tailored to your individual needs.

Can this membership replace my oncologist?

No, we recommend continuing care with your oncologist. Our team works closely with your oncology providers to coordinate care, ensuring that all integrative protocols complement your existing treatment plan safely and effectively.

Is the membership covered by insurance?

No. However, the membership provides significant value through priority unlimited access to your provider personalized care, and a 30% discount on all Restore + Revive therapies and 20% off supplements and products, which can yield substantial cost savings.

Do I have to be in chemo or radiation to join?

No, this membership is designed to support anyone navigating a cancer journey, whether you are undergoing conventional treatment, in recovery, or seeking integrative support.

Can I join if I had cancer and am now in remission?

Absolutely. Our membership supports those in remission by creating Cancer recurrence prevention plans. These plans may include targeted testing, therapies, supplements, lifestyle recommendations, and ongoing monitoring tailored specifically to your history and risk factors.
